School of Artisan Food Cookery School - Festival of Food and Drink 2020

Cookery School for the kids returns to Festival of Food and Drink this year.

Sessions at the Festival of Food & Drink for children can be booked on the day at just £2 – with places allocated on a first come, first served basis – so make sure you arrive early and get booked in straight away. Children taking part must be 6 years or over.

Children can get involved in sessions that offer the likes of Butter making, naan making, Ice-cream making and more.

This year bought to you by Festival of Food & Drink we have Bake-Off favourite Karen Wright who will be with across both days with Rocky Road and Naan making and Lea –Anna Rennie-Johnson supporting Cookery School from The School of Artisan Food on the beautiful Welbeck Estate in North Nottinghamshire. Lee-Anna has worked in dairy for over 15 years and will get the kids involved in butter, cheese and ice-cream making.

We are following COVID measures and will be working in a well ventilated marquee. We ask everyone to follow guidance and respect social distancing. The team will have clean stations and will be cleaning between session, kids with have aprons and hand cleaning prior to getting started. Hand sanitiser will also be available.

The Dairy Made

I have worked in the Dairy industry for 15 years. Having started in cheese retail I moved onto supplying some of the UK’s largest hotel groups with cheese before going to train as a cheesemaker & cheesemonger.

 Wanting to know more about the cheese itself led me to The School of Artisan Food where I trained as a cheese maker before working for the school managing and teaching the dairy courses, whilst also taking care of my own herd of dairy goats. I now run a dairy consultancy looking after all elements of cheesemaking, artisan production & retail. I am also a Training Partner for The Academy of Cheese & teach at Nottingham Trent University alongside independent cookery schools. My passion lies with all things rural, so much so that I even got married in my wellies! When not in the dairy I’m normally found relaxing with my chaotic family in the Worcestershire countryside eating cheese and drinking wine.
